The International Journal of Poultry Science (IJPS) is committed to supporting equitable access to scholarly publishing. The journal recognizes that authors from some countries and institutions may have limited access to funding for Article Processing Charges (APCs). To help reduce financial barriers to publication, eligible authors may request an APC discount in accordance with the conditions described in this policy.

APC discounts are intended to provide financial assistance where appropriate. The availability and amount of any discount are not automatic or guaranteed. Each request is assessed individually on a case-by-case basis in accordance with this policy.

Article Processing Charge

The standard Article Processing Charge (APC) for the International Journal of Poultry Science is USD 275.

There is no fee for submitting a manuscript. The APC becomes payable only after a manuscript has successfully completed the editorial and peer review process and has been formally accepted for publication.

APC Discounts

Eligible authors may be considered for an APC discount of up to 50% of the standard Article Processing Charge.

The availability and amount of a discount are determined on a case-by-case basis. Eligibility to request a discount does not guarantee that a discount will be granted or that a particular percentage will be approved. The amount of any discount offered will depend on the individual circumstances of the request and the journal's ability to provide financial support.

Authors should not assume that a discount has been granted until they have received written confirmation from the Editorial Office.

Eligibility

An APC discount may be requested when the corresponding author's primary institutional affiliation is located in one of the countries or territories included in the eligible list below.

Eligibility is determined according to the corresponding author's primary institutional affiliation and country at the time of manuscript submission.

The corresponding author's affiliation and country stated in the manuscript and submission system must be accurate and current. The Editorial Office may request reasonable supporting information or documentation where necessary to verify eligibility or assess a discount request.

Being affiliated with an institution in an eligible country or territory provides eligibility to request an APC discount but does not constitute an automatic entitlement to a discount or to any particular discount percentage.

Corresponding authors whose primary institutional affiliation is located in one of the following countries or territories may request consideration for an APC discount:

Review of the Eligible Country List

The journal may periodically review and update the list of eligible countries and territories, taking into consideration internationally recognized economic and development indicators, changes in access to research funding, and access to scholarly publishing resources.

Eligibility will be determined according to the list published on the journal website at the time the APC discount request is submitted.

When to Request an APC Discount

Authors seeking an APC discount should submit their request at the time of manuscript submission. Authors are encouraged to review the journal's APC and discount information before submitting their manuscript.

A discount request should not be delayed until after a manuscript has completed peer review or has been accepted for publication. Requests submitted later in the publication process may not be considered unless the Editorial Office determines that there are reasonable circumstances for doing so.

No APC payment is required at the time of manuscript submission. The APC becomes payable only after the manuscript has been formally accepted for publication.

How to Request an APC Discount

The corresponding author should submit the APC discount request to the Editorial Office at editorijps@gmail.com.

The request should include:

• Manuscript title;
• Name of the corresponding author;
• Primary institutional affiliation;
• Country of the corresponding author's primary institutional affiliation; and
• Any relevant information that the author wishes the journal to consider when assessing the request.

The Editorial Office may request reasonable supporting information or documentation where necessary to verify eligibility or assess the circumstances of the request.

Assessment of APC Discount Requests

All APC discount requests are considered individually on a case-by-case basis. The granting and amount of any discount are not automatic or guaranteed.

In assessing a request, the journal may consider the author's circumstances, institutional affiliation, country, availability of research or publication funding, information provided in support of the request, and the journal's ability to provide financial support.

The amount of any APC discount will be determined following assessment of the individual request. The corresponding author will be informed in writing of the journal's decision and, where a discount is approved, the applicable discount and resulting amount payable.

Editorial Independence

APC discount requests are handled separately from the academic evaluation of manuscripts. An author's eligibility for a discount, submission of a discount request, approval or denial of a request, or ability to pay the APC has no influence on peer review or editorial decision-making.

Editors and peer reviewers assess manuscripts solely on their scholarly merit, originality, relevance, methodological soundness, ethical compliance, and suitability for the journal.

Where practicable, individuals responsible for making editorial decisions on manuscripts are not involved in determining the outcome or amount of APC discounts.

Notification of the Discount Decision

The corresponding author will be informed in writing of the outcome of the APC discount request.

If a discount is approved and the manuscript is subsequently accepted for publication, the approved discount and resulting amount payable will be reflected in the payment information or official invoice issued for the manuscript.

Approval of an APC discount applies only to the manuscript for which the request was made and should not be interpreted as an entitlement to the same discount for future submissions.

Accuracy of Information

Authors requesting an APC discount are responsible for providing accurate, complete, and current information concerning their institutional affiliation, country, funding circumstances, and any other information submitted in support of the request.

The journal reserves the right to decline or withdraw an APC discount where eligibility cannot be verified or where a request is based on materially inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading information.

Relationship to Editorial Decisions

Approval of an APC discount does not guarantee acceptance or publication of a manuscript. Similarly, denial of an APC discount request does not affect the academic evaluation of a manuscript.

All editorial decisions are made independently of financial considerations and are based on the quality, integrity, relevance, and suitability of the submitted work.
