Preprints Policy

The International Journal of Poultry Science (IJPS) encourages authors to post manuscripts as preprints to facilitate early sharing of poultry science research. Preprints allow rapid dissemination, community feedback, and proper recognition of authorship, while not affecting formal peer review or publication decisions.

Copyright and Licensing:
During the preprint stage, authors retain copyright and should avoid assigning exclusive rights. Preprints may carry “no re-use” licenses or Creative Commons licenses (CC-BY, CC-NC, CC-NC-ND). These preprints remain fully eligible for submission to IJPS.

Submission of Preprints:
Authors may submit manuscripts that have already appeared as preprints. Preprints should be clearly labeled, and authors must disclose any preprint postings upon submission. IJPS will conduct a standard peer review regardless of prior preprint availability.

Updating Preprints:
Authors can update preprints with revised versions until the manuscript is accepted. After acceptance, the preprint should include a direct link to the published article, supporting transparency, discoverability, and proper attribution.

Citation Guidelines:
IJPS recommends citing preprints clearly as preprints. Citations should include version and DOI information if available. Example:

Author, A.B., C.D. Author. Title of the preprint. Preprint Server Name [Preprint]. Year [cited Year Month Day]. Available from: DOI

Open Access and Community Engagement:
Posting preprints aligns with IJPS’s commitment to open access and rapid knowledge dissemination. Authors benefit from increased visibility, early feedback, and broader impact within the poultry science research community.
